Land Acknowledgement + Justice Values

I was born, and now “own property”, on stolen land and I want to pay deep respect to the Indigenous communities of generations past, present, and future who are the original stewards of this land.

The Winnipeg area rests on Treaty 1 territory, the homeland of Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree and Métis peoples.

Additionally, I want to acknowledge that I hold immense privilege in a system that excludes and oppresses many BI&POC.

I SUPPORT RACIAL JUSTICE FOR BLACK PEOPLE, INDIGENOUS PEOPLE, AND PEOPLE OF COLOUR (BI&POC) AND AM COMMITTED TO BEING AN INCLUSIVE, ANTI-RACIST ORGANIZATION.

White supremacy must be dismantled (from within and without), along with the many systems it has created — police, mass incarceration, healthcare inequality, wage gaps, and more. As a privileged person running a business on colonized land, I have a responsibility to vote, operate, and live in a way that helps dismantle these systems — even if it results in loss of once-held privileges.

As a white independent designer I want to support, and collaborate with BI&POC people and organizations inside and outside my own community.

To the Indigenous people, Black folks, and People of Color who would like to work with me: I offer sliding scale rates for those of you who otherwise wouldn’t have access to my services. I’m happy to find creative ways to make your project possible! Send me an email + let’s explore the options together.

To all BIPOC web designers, graphic designers, copywriters, illustrators, photographers: I want to work with you! I’m always looking for people to recommend clients for work I’m not able to take on or don’t have the expertise for. If this interests you please say hi!

I’m continually discovering ways to challenge colonized structures and to support and promote Indigenous people, Black folks, and People of Color and I am always open to feedback or suggestions.

I STAND with + FOR LGBTQ2SIA+ EQUALITY.

I accept and affirm all gender identities, gender expressions, and sexual orientations. Everyone deserves to be seen for who they ARE, and a world with more love in it is a better world. I, myself, am queer and I love my community.
